Kanna Reviews exists because the kanna boom outran the facts. In a few short years, kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) went from a traditional Khoisan chew to extracts, gummies, powders, and tinctures stocked in supplement shops — and brought thousands of first-time users with it. What it didn't bring was verification: products with undisclosed or vaguely stated mesembrine-alkaloid content, "standardized" potency claims with nothing behind them, and labels nobody was checking against an actual lab report.

So that's the job. For every product we rank, we pull the published Certificate of Analysis and check the label's alkaloid numbers against it. We check extract-ratio and standardization claims against what the brand actually documents. We test everything hands-on — onset, the uplifting-versus-calming spectrum at the doses people actually take, mouthfeel and mixability — because a number can't tell you how a product behaves. Then we rank, using a methodology we publish in full.

On independence: Kanna Reviews is funded by affiliate commissions on some of the links we publish. Brands cannot buy a placement, a verdict, or a kinder review — rankings are set before monetization is ever considered, and a product with no affiliate relationship outranks one with a deal whenever it earns it. The same standard drives the Kanna Finder, our matching tool: your answers pick the products, not the payout.

If a brand won't publish the lab report, we won't rank it.

Who we are, plainly: an independent editorial desk that reviews kanna. We read published lab reports — we don't operate a lab of our own, and we won't pretend otherwise. We describe experiences and documented facts, never medical outcomes; nothing on this site is medical advice, and these statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.
